about
Wilmslow & District Furniture Recycling (formally the Wythenshawe Development Trust) began in September 1972 as a community project, with the aim of recycling furniture and household goods to assist with the rehousing of homeless families and to support the unemployed and low-paid in south Manchester and north-east Cheshire.
We collect unwanted furniture and other household items from generous members of the public. The goods are then taken to our storeroom at the former scout hut, where they remain until required, before being taken to vulnerable individuals and families.
We also run a food bank for local residents on Wednesday and Friday mornings.
